Imagination and Astral Travel
(1929) Astral projection according to Carrington and Muldoon.
This story tells how one man discovered the mysterious connection between his own imagination and astral travel. (5 minute read)
James W. had not heard from an old friend for many years. “It’s funny how time can pass by so quickly,” he thought. “It sure would be nice to talk to him and catch up.”
He spent some time looking around the house for his telephone number but without any luck. Later that evening James laid in his bed quietly thinking about some of the good old days. As he mused about the fun times they used to have, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. Then he had a vivid dream where he could recall talking in an animated way with his friend. It was a good dream and he woke up the following morning with a sense that they had connected somehow.
Then a strange thing happened.
Later that morning he received a phone call. When he heard the voice on the other end he couldn’t believe it. It was the the very same friend whom he had been thinking and dreaming about the night before! James was very surprised to say the least. Then his buddy said something that absolutely shocked him. The hair on his arm actually stood on end.
What did he say?
His friend told him that he had had a dream about him the previous night. In the dream, they talked and had a good time. He woke up feeling like it would be nice to call him up and have a chat and that that was the reason for the phone call.
James was simply speechless. He didn’t mention that he too had had almost the exact same dream because that would just sound weird. But he still couldn’t get over it.
What was the possible connection between the dream and his friend calling him? “What a bizarre coincidence,” he thought to himself. “How can two people separated by thousands of miles have the same dream and also be in it together?”
The Answer
The answer is simple:
Your mind is not limited by space…or time for that matter.
And don’t get hung up here. There is nothing to be afraid of, but…
Sometimes your dreams are real.
Cmon! You already suspected this right? LOL.
Yes. It’s true. You can and often do travel to distant locations during sleep. The mind is not limited by distance and can travel anywhere almost instantaneously. Even the seemingly most boring person in the world has a whole different side to them when they hit the sack at night.
What Does This Mean?
What this means is that when you use your imagination, say for instance to think about an old friend and you imagine talking with that old friend, don’t be surprised if your deeper self does not take a trip at night to go and have a visit. 🙂
The Rest Of The Story…
James, after he got off the phone, sat quietly pondering what had happened. He was a bit nervous and even a little scared. He felt lonely because there was no one that he could talk to about this. A long time ago he had learned that most people do not like to discuss their dreams. It makes one sound strange or weird.
Then he remembered something he had read many years ago. It was from a random book he had picked up at a local thrift store. After reading it he was so impressed that he immediately went out and found every book that author had ever written. That author’s name was Carlos Castaneda.
“Yes!” he thought. James’ nervous energy turned into excitement as he started eagerly rummaging through the bookshelves in his office library. He quickly found his prized Carlos Castaneda book collection. He had actually forgotten about them. Strangely, these books had been so important to him at one time. Feverishly, he gathered them all together like a child that had discovered some new treasure.
Castaneda had written some weird stuff about dreams and about how people have the power to be awake or lucid in their dreams and travel too. It was a kind of conscious dreaming. Years ago James had tried to put some of the teachings into practice but had been only partially successful. This most recent experience however, made him remember that it was definitely possible.
He smiled to himself and thought, “Yes, these books are still important.” He started leafing through each one looking for a particular passage and then found it almost immediately; right there in front of his eyes. The name of the book was The Art of Dreaming. The part that interested him at the moment was where Castaneda writes that his teacher Don Juan instructed him to make every effort to remember to look at his hands the next time he found himself in the dream state.
James recalled that he had succeeded in looking at his hands in a dream only one time and that it had happened several years ago. The toughest part was not only becoming aware inside of the dream, but also remembering to look at your hands. It sounds easy enough but he had tried for many weeks and even months to accomplish this feat only to wake up with negative results.
He recalled how each night before bed he would quiet his mind and instruct himself to look at his hands when he was in the dream state. Each morning however, he would wake up with no results. Then, surprisingly, the night finally the came where he found himself apparently “awake” in his dream. He immediately looked down at his hands and while we won’t get into what happened after he looked at his hands here in this post, it was an incredible accomplishment, worthy of all the effort he had put forth.
Conclusion:
He sat back, let out a huge sigh of relief and chuckled. It was unbelievable to him that he could have forgotten this amazing thing he had experienced. “How could I have forgotten something so important?” he wondered.
“Life just kind of got in the way.” he reasoned. Getting married, having kids, there had been no time to read anymore. There was hardly any time for personal things and certainly no time for analyzing dreams.
Now, however, the kids were grown. He was entering a new phase in his life; a new chapter. A strange and exciting sense of purpose came over him.
James smiled and held the book tightly in his hands. Certainly, the dream encounter with his friend had been no mere dream. He knew better. Of course it was real. He breathed deeply. “I’m back,” he thought to himself. The time had finally come to take up his studies once again.
The End?

From my point of view, astral travel is directly connected with your imagination because without it our subconsciousness is not able to create such amazing inexplicable things. I think this story is direct confirmation of it. It is an absolutely unique phenomenon that we can have such a huge mental link about which we don’t even know. I absolutely agree with you that our brain is not limited by space. I think that our brain is not limited by anything and has unlimited opportunities which we simply need to explore. With the aid of our imagination we can attract a lot of things in our life and even make our dreams real. I think if we can fulfill our mind’s opportunities, we will be able to do absolutely everything, that is amazing.
